City & Guilds: Building services
Gareth studied at City and Guild in the UK and earned a National Diploma in Building Services Engineering. After relocating to Durban in 2008, Gareth joined WSP Consulting Engineers as a wet services engineer and during his 10-year service worked on many high-profile projects in South Africa and abroad. After a successful period at WSP, Gareth joined CKR Consulting Engineers in 2016 to start up the wet services department in Durban. In July 2018, Gareth co-founded Vertex Engineering Consultants as the Director of wet services.
During his experience, across various wet services projects, Gareth gained experience in hot and cold-water systems design, soil & waste drainage systems as well as storm water drainage systems and harvesting.

Darryn earned a qualification in Business and Financial Management at the University of South Africa in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with Honours, at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2013. Darryn began working with Mekan Consulting Engineers in 2013 and stayed with the company during restructuring in 2014, as Project Engineer for the new Axell Consulting. In 2017 he relocated to Durban and joined CKR as a Mechanical Engineer.
Darryn joined the Vertex Engineering Consultants team in May 2019 as the Mechanical Services Director. Specific areas of expertise include gymnasium HVAC and high efficiency heat reclamation for hot water generation purposes, commercial pool filtration and heating, mixed use developments, retail, hospital, hotel and leisure mechanical services design.
